Going to the Magic Castle in Hollywood tonight with my pals D-rocc and Bree. It’s going to be so absurd. But so awesome.
If you don’t know about the Magic Castle, do yourself a favor and find out.

Crooked Fingers “New Drink for The Old Drunk”
Pretty excited to see Crooked Fingers in Hollywood tonight. Especially since I missed Archers of Loaf this past weekend. Last time I saw Crooked Fingers was in 1999 when they played a tiny dive bar in Vegas to a crowd of about 10-20 people. Poor turnout, but an amazing show.
Ended up going to see Dinosaur Jr. last night. They performed Bug in its entirety, and threw in a few bonus songs before and after. Highlight for me though, was when they closed with their cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” I’ve seen Dinosaur Jr. probably 6 or 7 times now, and I’ve never seen them play this, surprisingly. It was fucking fantastic.
Famous Person I Saw Today: Bruce Villanch
Chrisp and I spotted famed awards show joke writer, Bruce Villanch this afternoon at the Arclight Theatre in Hollywood. Oddly, it didn’t appear that Mr. Villanch was at the theatre to see a film. He walked into the cafe adjacent to the cinema, read his book for a while, then left. Meanwhile, Chrisp and I were there just to drink a beer before going next door to Amoeba. We also spent an inordinate amount of time trying to sneak a picture of Villanch (the result being the stellar shot above…look out Annie Leibovitz).
Always bums me out when a movie theatre closes. Especially one that shows great indie movies. What a drag. R.I.P. Laemmle Sunset 5.
More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead is screening tonight at the Arclight Theatre in Hollywood, CA as part of their Docufest. It’s one show, one night only, and tickets are limited, so I suggest you click the link below and buy yours now.
Cast and crew from both More Brains! AND Return of the Living Dead will be in attendance. You really don’t want to miss this. I’ve already seen More Brains! and it’s a pretty impressive documentary, which should come as no surprise seeing as it was produced by the same folks that produced His Name Was Jason and Never Sleep Again - the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street docs.
I’ll be there with Morgan and Chrisp. Come say hi.

Hangin’ in Hollywood with Michael Myers.
Good morning, Los Angeles.
Band Shirt Of The Day: Smoke or Fire
I got this Smoke or Fire shirt when the band opened for NOFX at The Music Box in Hollywood on February 7, 2009. I took my pal Charlie as a late Christmas gift (or early birthday gift, I forget). This was my first time seeing Smoke or Fire, and probably my 43rd time seeing NOFX. Smoke or Fire were pretty fucking incredible. Charlie and I were down in front screaming along and making fun of the girl in the crowd who looked like Axl Rose.
At this point in the tour, Smoke or Fire must have been pretty hard up for cash because all of their t-shirts were marked down to $10 each, and all of their CDs and LPs were marked down to $5. So I bought 3 t-shirts and Above The City and This Sinking Ship on vinyl.
Also, Charlie took this picture of us. I like it because it looks like I’m about to murder him.

OH, I just found this other pic that Charlie took while we singing along with Smoke or Fire. Look behind us and you’ll see the Axl Rose chick wearing a blue bandanna. Welcome to the jungle.
